About

Welcome to our site; we are so glad you found your way here. If plants, gardening, growing and using your food, and healthy living are your passion or desire, you are in the right place.

Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just starting, we have something for you. From expert advice to encouraging step-by-step projects, we are here to take you on a bountiful and healthy journey.

The Backyard Gardeners Network is a Lower 9th Ward-based group of gardening and wellness enthusiasts with years of experience, who wish to inspire, inform and empower all people to live healthy and sustainable lives.

Our mission is to promote healthy living by educating about plants and sustainable gardening practices. Everyone should have the opportunity to grow and eat fresh, nutritious produce, no matter where you live or how much gardening experience you have. We are committed to making this a reality for all who visit our site.

We are working on building a community of expert gardeners no matter where they live to bring their expertise and gardening tips to our pages. Our community of expert gardeners has been cultivating their growing and healthy living passion for many years. We are seasoned in plant selection, growing, harvesting, storing, and cooking with fresh garden produce to promote wellness.

Growing fresh food is one of the easiest (and most rewarding) ways to live a healthy, sustainable life. That’s why we provide inspiration, resources, and education on all things gardening—so you can get started whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced green thumb.

Now more than ever, it is important to take charge of your own health and grow food. We live in uncertain times and learning to grow food is essential.

We hope Backyard Gardeners Network will be a place and a way to bring people who have a strong love of gardening together, thanks for joining us and we look forward to sharing our years of experience and our love of plants and wellness with you.
